Exam Pattern:

 English - 50 Marks

Aptitude - 50 Marks

Reasoning - 50 Marks

General Knowledge - 50 Marks

Strategy to follow:
In these exams there is no sectional cutoff. This is a boon to all the aspirants to crack this exam, I hope you understand what I mean?
Did you get that?, Yeah it is... You know some of us are strong in Aptitude and some other in reasoning and some other in English and some other in GK. So Concentrate on your favorite subject try to score maximum in that section, Because the cutoff for this exam is always oscillating  between 107-110 for open category people.So if we score maximum in one section and answer all other minimally, to get qualified to Tier-II. This is the success strategy of most of people who got selected in this exam.

Syllabus of English:


         The syllabus for ssc cgl English differ from the general banking and other competitive exams. This is a very simple observation if you go through the previous papers.
1.Comprehension:  (5Q)
          The standard of this section is medium, so by simply reading the passage you can answer all the questions confidently.
 strategy to follow: 

       First read the questions, then read the passage. This will be a typical approach but good enough to score all the bits in this section.
2.Idioms and Phrases:(5Q)
       The standard is medium.
3.One Word Substitute:(5Q)
        Easy
4.Active voice to passive voice / Direct to Indirect speech(5Q)
       Read the Wren and Martin book.
       Easy
5.Close test(10Q)
     Medium
   
6.Sentence correction(5Q)
     Medium
     Mainly concentrate on Subject verb agreement, use of Adj, use of conjunctions.
7.Correctly spell word(5Q)
    Good knowledge of spelling is must to answer all questions.
    Moderate
8.Synonym or Antonyms(5Q)
   Good knowledge of vocabulary is needed. Some times both are asked for 10Q.

Syllabus for Aptitude:


  In addition to the banking exams syllabus concentrate on Mathematics(of standard 10th Class). Go through your state board mathematics text book. This will be very helpful as they adopted to the new syllabus from 2011.
